More about Poll Results, Labor Day, and MMSM

My poll is now closed and I haven't received any new results. Again, I've had a hard time interpreting what you want because I got seven answers and only two of them were the same. Those two that are the same (and thus have a higher percentage) want me to discuss more about my day-to-day life. The rest of you are all over the place. Overall, what I think I am going to do is use this blog as a personal one, in a similar way as I have been, and try to include more about me. I will continue to link to the interesting items I find on the web. I will also share some of my crafts (as that is part of my life.) However, I am also going to start trying to use the other blog as well to share some of the cool craft stuff I find. The other blog is Fairy Creative (www.fairycreative.blogspot.com) if you want to check it out and follow it as well (read: please do!!) I will have the post you are reading up before I have a 'real' post up over there, but please do check it out if you are interested at all.

Okay, MOVING ON!! It's Labor Day, a day I've been looking forward to because it's a paid day off, a three-day weekend, a freebie beach day. However, I'm stuck inside hiding from the wind and rain, from a little storm they are calling Gustav. Fortunately, I'm far enough away that it is just a nuisance and not a disaster. I guess it is giving me time to post, which I probably wouldn't be doing from the beach (I'm trying to see the bright side.) I also need to remember that at least I CAN post, which means I still have power and cable. LOML*, another couple, and I had a great time at the beach. Somehow I drank a little too much on Friday night and felt rough on Saturday morning, but that soon faded. While I did start drinking again around lunch time, I was drinking slowly and never really got drunk. I felt so much better for packing and getting the heck out of there on Sunday. I'm now waiting for a slight pause in the storm to run to the grocery store so we can go to friends' for dinner. As such, I'm kinda all over the place - sorry!!

Since it is Labor Day, it is also "Made Me Smile Monday" I've got some goodies for y'all.
  • Here's one all you can eat special you won't soon forget.

Alrighty, gonna venture into the storm now. Wish me luck!!

Long (and Probably Boring) Excuse, The End Is Good Though

**Fingers inserted in ears** La, La, La - I can't hear you complain that I missed another Monday. It was a really rough day for me. LOML*'s flight left at 6am from Pensacola. That meant he had to be at the airport at 5am, we had to leave by 4am, and we had to get up at 3:30am. I threatened to stay up all night rather than go to bed at 8:30pm. I was actually in the bed before him, but didn't fall asleep until about 11pm.
I got up alright, made it there and back, and tried to rest some. Instead, my wheels were turning about some things I need to take care of within the next few days-weeks. I worked on some of that then went shopping for some of these items. I had NO LUCK with the shopping excursion in the 95 degree weather and got home around 4pm, where I found a package on the doorstep. It held Sublime Stitching and Doodle Stitching. I maniacally tore open that package and plopped on the couch, flipping through these two really great books. Eventually, my body gave in and I dozed off for about 4 hours. Once I was conscious again, I spent the rest of the evening watching some chick flicks and testing out my embroidery skillZ. I tried to go to sleep by FINALLY watching Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightly. Yeah, I didn't blink for the whole movie. Now I remember why I LOVE THAT BOOK. In the end, I tossed and turned until about 3am before finally finding rest.
So, in conclusion, that's why I didn't blog yesterday.

However, I plan on making it up right now. Let's skip Techie Tuesday and re-do Made Me Smile Monday (esp since I've missed a few of these.)
  • This commercial is a bit sexist and about tools (NOT the fun kind), but so worth watching it if you see it through to the end.
  • president chest bump.
  • Girl gets even with construction workers.
  • Sarcasma - medicine to treat sarcasm.
  • Lastly - my favorite joke (a bit long, but you will be in tears!)
A new priest at his first mass was so nervous he could hardly speak.
After mass he asked the monsignor how he had done.
The monsignor replied, 'When I am worried about getting nervous on the pulpit, I put a glass of vodka next to the water glass. If I start to get nervous, I take a sip.'
So next Sunday he took the monsignor's advice.
At the beginning of the sermon, he got nervous and took a drink.
He proceeded to talk up a storm.
Upon his return to his office after the mass, he found the following note on the door:
1) Sip the vodka, don't gulp.
2) There are 10 commandments, not 12.
3) There are 12 disciples, not 10.
4) Jesus was consecrated, not constipated.
5) Jacob wagered his donkey, he did not bet his ass.
6) We do not refer to Jesus Christ as the late J.C.
7) The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not referred to as Big Daddy, Junior, and the spook.
8) David slew Goliath; he did not kick the shit out of him.
9) When David was hit by a rock and was knocked off his donkey, don't say he was stoned off his ass.
10)We do not refer to the cross as the 'Big T.'
11)When Jesus broke the bread at the last supper he said, 'Take this and eat it for it is my body.' He did not say 'Eat me'.
12)The Virgin Mary is not called 'Mary with the Cherry'.
13)The recommended grace before a meal is not: Rub-A-Dub-Dub thanks for the grub, Yeah God.
14)Next Sunday there will be a taffy pulling contest at St. Peter's not a peter pulling contest at St. Taffy's.
I hope you liked that as much as I do.
By the way - I'm really looking forward to this evening as I get to go see the Sex in The City movie. I sooooooo can't wait!!

Made Me Smile Moday - Finally

MUST.POST.SOMETHING.TODAY.
It's been a few weeks since I put something out there for "Made Me Smile Monday"My list is HUGE, and it's my favorite topic. It totally brightens my Monday to go through the silly, funny, absurd, and crazy-fun items I find for the blog and post them.
Since it has been I while, I am going to post just a tad more than I have been to get some of this stuff off the list.
Check-check-check it out!!!:
  • I live in Alabama, and this is something I can totally hear many of the rednecks saying.
  • I stumbled across a t-shirt company, Busted Tees, with the most hilarious t-shirts I've ever seen. Here's a sampling of a few of my favorites. Check out the site to find your favs!!
  • There are definitely some products out there that were poorly named or not properly thought out. Here are a dozen of these consumer product oddities.
  • If you're like just about everyone else out there, you hate getting those calls. You know those calls, you're right in the middle of dinner or just about anything else and a salesperson phones you. One man found a tactic that I find awesomely funny. What tactics have you used?
  • Here are a few quotes/statements I found amusing.
    • I must confess, I was born at a very early age. -Groucho Marx
    • Is it possible to be totally partial?
    • If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to see it, do the other trees make fun of it?
  • The one thing that has made me giggle uncontrollably all day is this hat that one of my co-workers is wearing.
I hope you can make it out. I think it is truly 'hat hair'. He says it keeps his head warm. Since he is balding and I've laughed every time I see him, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Happy Monday y'all!!

Thrifty Thursday

So for this "Thrifty Thursday," I'm gonna mix it up a littleSimply put: here's quick link that's crafty AND thrifty. Some artists were challenged to make discard items into something else. Some of these are functional and cool, while others are a bit weird. You decide for yourself.

Lately, many people have been trying to become more thrifty and frugal because of the so-called possible recession and because of the rising gas prices. Here are a few funnies a friend e-mailed me that put a little bit of a lighter side on the increasing coasts of gas.

See! It's not just you that feels like they're being anally raped every time they pull up to the pump. Um well, I hope these make you chuckle as much as they made me chuckle.

Just a Little Laugh

I've felt so lousy lately, I haven't been up for much posting. However, if you will all hang in there, I'm hoping to have a nice long post tomorrow for Valentine's day. In the meantime, here's what got the biggest laugh out of me so far today:
It's a furniture store
hehehehe :)

Ho, Ho, Ho - Ha, Ha, Ha

I don't have anything really fun for today's "Techie Tuesday," and I didn't post my long list of items for "Made Me Smile Monday" so here is a 'Made Me Smile Tuesday' post for you.
  • First, I have several quite funny videos for you
    • Jim Gaffigan's comedy routine centered around Hot Pockets made me absolutely cry with laughter.
    • If you have not discovered 'Flight of the Concords' yet, check out my two favorite songs by them. They have a show on HBO also.

  • I got to see a picture of one of my work friends from the early '90s where he looked like Magnum P.I. with a fanny pack. I about died from laughing. I promised him I wouldn't post the picture, I didn't say I wouldn't mention it.
  • College dorm posters could be cliche' even back in my college days.
  • The signs you may be having a bad day, as done in cat pictures.
  • How a game of marco polo can catch a criminal.
  • "Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana" - Groucho Marx
  • And some Holiday funnies
    • With the holiday excuse generator, it's easy to come up with an excuse to not attend one of those many parties you will be invited to this season.
    • Even though I haven't put up a tree this year, I can still enjoy a a variety of Christmas trees.
    • While I am nowhere near important enough to receive one, check out the cool LucasFilms Christmas cards from over the years.
That's all for today, I hope I made you smile (if not fall out of your chair laughing).

Halloween Laughs Late

Ok, so I didn't feel like posting when I got home last night. I'm ready now!
I bring you "Made Me Smile Monday" on a Tuesday! How unique is that?
Here are some of the things that made me smile or laugh over the past week:
  • This Marie Antoinette action figure from Entertainment Earth
  • The fact that I put on and wore my shirt to the airport, home, and then to work before realizing it was backwards.
  • This joke/e-mail from a friend:
There is a dangerous virus being passed around electronically, orally, and by hand. This virus is called Weary-Overload-Recreational-Killer (WORK).
If you
receive WORK from any of your colleagues, your boss, or anyone else via any means DO NOT TOUCH IT. This virus will wipe out your private life completely.
If you should come into contact with WORK, put your jacket on and take two
good friends to the nearest grocery store. Purchase the antidote known as Work-Isolating-Neutralizer-Extract (WINE) or Bothersome-Employer-Elimination-Rebooter (BEER). Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system.
  • The Pet-Category Winner from Etsy's Halloween Costume Contest
  • How smart some children are nowadays.
  • The real meaning of friendship.
  • Getting that extra hour because of daylight savings
  • This video of scaring trick-or-treaters with an ooga horn
  • These images as e-mailed to me by a friend

I hope these make you laugh as much as I did.
