Bead Table Wednesday: Indecision

Our juice semi-fast is finished and with the having one 'real' meal a day, it really wasn't too bad. Pat reported that he definitely felt better, more energized after drinking the juice; but I wasn't feeling those effects. I just didn't seem to be getting ANYTHING done. That may have been a side effect of me not having to worry with meals as much to keep my schedule in line. Whatever it was, by yesterday afternoon I was anxious to get something, anything made.

After running a few errands, I made a point to flip through my idea/sketchbook and work on something from it. One entry simply read, make more shabby pendants. So, I did. Well. . .I started on them.
This is their current state. I still need to seal them, but I'm not completely SOLD on how they look right now.

See. . .yesterday, I posted this photo of them.
And I can't decide if they were better this way. They look so. . .plain like this, but I just can't seem to settle on what kind of image to put on them: rub-ons, stamps, stickers, stencils, doodles, text, paper, etc. I did attempt to stamp the backs of these with some Distress Ink, but that just seemed to fade into the other colors.

What do y'all think? Plain? Decorated? Other ideas?
I'm not usually so indecisive, so this is killing me.

In the meantime, I re-listed this necklace.
Southern Subtle Fall Necklace
And added these new earrings.
Purple Earrings
I suppose I'll probably just go seal these pendants and make some others later with additional experimental attempts at decorating them. However, I would REALLY like your input: decorated or not?

  1. I thought they were a bit plain without the images, but that can be overcome in some designs to some extent. From the photo, I like the stamps...especially the oblong blue with white and the key. The black flower actually seems to cover the other colors a bit too much..that one has really nice colors & maybe since it is multi colored, the flower print seems busy , I guess.

I'm grasping for critiques here, since you asked, but my first reaction to the stamps was very positive.

  2. I don't know, I kind of like them plain. They would be nice to layer with charms. I like the texture and color as they are. My second pick would be stamped.

  3. Well this is going to be helpful :-) I like the pendants both ways. The undecorated ones would be great for layer other things. I keep seeing them with metal stampings or filigree rivet to them.

  4. Shellie- I agree that the stamp one seemed to turn out the best of the ones up there. It's a shame I tried that method last. It should be easy enough to make some more later in the week and experiment. I'm glad you like them generally though!

Heather- Your opinion means so much. I like them plain as well. . .I just couldn't envision how well they would work as a pendant as they were. Charms is a great idea and now I'm actually starting to get some other ideas of how to use them plain. I definitely will work on my process some more. Thank you SO MUCH for your input. I appreciate it more than you know! :)

  5. Hi Hope,
I like the pendants both ways. I was drawn to the blue tear drop one before it was stamped and now I really like it with the stamp. The yellow one with the flowers down the middle for some reason makes me think of a surf board. As always I love your made jewelry and the necklace and earrings are beautiful as only you can make them!
