A Trip to Michael's and Some Jewelry for Sale

Brown Sugar and Spice Earrings
I think the inspiration wave has finally hit! I woke up yesterday with ideas for designs floating in my head (that's where most of my ideas come from, dreams.) Yet, before I could get all messy in the craft room, I had to send out the prize winner her package and then make a run to Michaels.

You see, I saw in the sales paper that they had the Industrial Chic line on sale and I knew for a fact that last week they had added some new pieces to that line. So, it was imperative that I head over there to check it out before I started on anything.

On my last Michael's excursion, I had noticed that they were re-arranging the jewelry section. "No big deal," I had thought. Big chain stores re-arrange all the time. However, when I got there yesterday, here's some of what greeted me in the jewelry section.
Big bins yet to be filled

Several whole empty sections of wall

And some new products, like this line of dapping tools and supplies.

When I checked out, I made sure to ask when they would be finished with the jewelry section. The cashier assured me they were almost done and everything should be in place sometime next week. I don't think I can wait! Has your Michael's been transformed? Have you seen some new items? Let me know!

I do need to head back there this afternoon to exchange an item that is flawed beyond use. No biggie. I'll just get another. Of course, this morning I also received an e-mail coupon for 20% off my entire purchase. That could be dangerous. If you aren't signed up for the Michael's newsletter, you really should. Those coupon deals can be pretty awesome!

Lastly, I've added a few more items to the shop and figured I better share before I immerse myself in my craft habit! ;) First are the earrings at the top of the page. And then there are these three beauties:
Pushing My Buttons Bracelet
Scaredy Cat Halloween Necklace
Isn't it Grape Necklace

Toodles!

From "To Do" to "Done." How Do You Manage It? (and ThTh)

Ack! I can't seem to fit in everything in a day that I want to do. If I try to do one task, then another one will either not get done or get limited attention. I've never understood how we are supposed to do everything we are SUPPOSED to do: prepare and eat healthy meals and snacks, work to earn a living, exercise, spend time with loved ones, shop for the clothes and food we need, keep a clean house, maintain the yard, maintain the car and house, maintain our hygiene, maintain our health, be creative, and all the other NEED TO DO tasks that wind up on our daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly to do lists. I've bought book after book on organization and time management, but have not found THE ANSWER yet.

My answer has always reverted back to list upon list upon list and prioritizing what's most pressing. You know - "the stuff in the sink is starting to smell, so I'll start with cleaning the dishes"; "Oh no, we have no clothes to wear - the laundry must need to be done first"; "They're going to turn off our water in two days - let's pay the bills right now"; "All we have in the fridge is moldy leftovers and beer - either I go shopping or we go on and eat out again" and so on. With these pressing issues who has time to write a blog post, craft some jewelry, or even enjoy reading other blogs? If you have some great solution, PLEASE SHARE WITH ME.

I guess I go through this wanting to revamp my whole way of doing things every year, and with my birthday approaching (tomorrow) I just don't want to see another year go by with me leaving so much undone, half-ass done, or never even considered getting started. I want to find a better way, NOW.

I guess while trying to do it all on my wonderful weekend, I missed noticing that I won a contest!! It's true. I won a winter dove bead from Humblebeads and didn't even notice until she sent me an e-mail. I'm so excited!! Now I'll HAVE TO find some time to get in the craft room and make a beautiful piece to go with such a lovely little bird.

Look at that - I won a FREE bead and I'm telling you about it on "Thrifty Thursday." While I would like to show you the items I got while yard shopping, I just haven't had the time to take the picture. It's one of those things that's falling through the cracks. Here, however, are some other topics that might strike your fancy:
  • Could you live off only $25 in food a week? I'm pretty sure it would be difficult. Check out this articles that discusses the $25 a week challenge and links to the blog posts of some of the persons who took the challenge.
  • While browsing the internet a while back, I found this coupon code site. Basically, you should check this site before you buy ANYTHING online, as you might could get it or the shipping cheaper with one a coupon code. This site lists the coupon codes available. How cool, and thrifty!!
  • I'm not a big motorcycle fan, but the re-use of old watches into these beautiful little pieces of art is pretty cool.
I'm running out of time to get this done, so I'm off for now. With Margarita Friday tomorrow, I don't know if I'll post or not. In any case, I'll try. I hope you get some of your to-do's done.

Coupon Profiling (and ThTh)

I've been a little lax about posting since I made the demand that you TAKE MY POLL (in sidebar at right.) I've just had a few busy evenings. First, with my nieces and then I had a Room Meeting for my Mardi Gras Society. Following the meeting, I got to hang out with two of my best friends, one of which just had a baby.
I have to tell you the funniest thing that happened last night. You know those coupons that the cash registers at grocery stores spew out based on what you bought? Well, before heading over to the baby-mama's house, we stopped for some wine. I'm not talking about a neat little bottle, I'm talking one of those BIG bottles of wine. However, it was just some Pinot Grigio, nothing harsh or odd and nothing else. Well, as we go to leave the lane, the cashier begins reeling in this foot-long string of coupons. He passes them to me. Walking toward the door, I examine the coupons to see what bells ring when you buy wine. I'm thinking flowers, frozen dinners, etc. NO! The boy had handed me coupons for cat food, vitamin water, and tampons!! SO, apparently people who buy large bottles of tasty white wine are hormonal, malnourished, cat-ladies.
SERIOUSLY!!
We had a great chuckle over the coupon choices. But, you know what - if the cat food was another brand, I would probably USE ALL of the coupons. Sigh - I'm that sad and apparently that predictable.

Speaking of coupons, it is "Thrifty Thursday."
  • Make your own clock hands with this neat product.
  • Here are some more tips for cleaning, deodorizing, etc. I do want to mention that this is a fairly old site and not the most attractive, but full of all kinds of tips - it even has some background music. It's rather low, but if you don’t want to hear it, turn off your speakers.
  • Help Reduce -part of the 3 R's - some simple strategies.
  • Making neat, funny, and unusual design and functional elements from dollar store finds.
  • Michelle Stitzlein's recycled work is so neat. They are beautiful, recycled butterflies
That's all for now folks! Please remember to take my poll (on the sidebar) and let me know if there's anything else you want to see here.

A little something new

I cannot believe it's been over a year since I chatted with you. I'm so sorry! I'll admit that it feels like I've been pull...
