30 Words: Winter Beach (with niece)

Too cold to splash about,
We walked along the sand.
She threw sticks into the waves
And amused me as we strolled.
As we returned,
The driftwood washed ashore again.

  1. Great photo! How lucky you are to be so close to the beach. I'll bet your niece had fun.

  2. Ah, special time with a special niece is a wonderful thing. (My big goal in life is to be the favorite aunt!). I think there's something kind of romantic and appealing about the winter beach but maybe that's because I haven't spent much time on one.

    1. Sarajo - Fortunately I'm the girls' only aunt so I laugh when they tell me that I'm the cool aunt. All in all, I know they enjoy spending time with me and I enjoy spending time with them. I just hope that lasts through their teenage years.
A winter beach can be harsh at times too. The wind whips without barriers and you feel like you're getting sandblasted. As well, not being able to get in the water can be torturous, especially to a water-baby like myself. There's not much that will keep me away from the waterside except for extreme cold.

  3. Nothing like a walk on the beach to sooth the soul, winter is great as no one is around - sounds like you both had a great time.

  5. Oh to see the beach! I wouldn't even care if it was too cold to dip my toes in the water, just to have the surf and sun would be enough! What a fun aunt you must be, Miss Hope! Thanks for joining the 30 Words Challenge! Enjoy the day! Erin
